Monitor and control the project.


Ensure that the project is progressing according to the plan. Resolve exceptions. Ensure deliveries occur on the due date and with expected contents.


Track and control progress.

Keep project progress consistent with the plan.

Assess estimating basis.

Assess estimating basis and revise plans accordingly.

Hold communication meetings.

Disseminate information internally, gather information, and launch appropriate actions.

Audit a contractor.

Assure compliance and/or the health of the contractor's project. Contribute to making an audit or review effective.

Reconcile financial data.

Reconcile business with project financial data and improve forecasts.

Manage risk.

Regularly identify new risks. Update the risk management plan and other plans. Implement a contingency plan when a risk has occurred.

Handle exceptions.

Resolve exceptions. Ensure completion of actions.

Investigate a potentially adverse situation in order to resolve it. Record and resolve a compliance incident; prevent a recurrence.

Resolve a Change request. Plan and assign work requested by the sponsor within the scope of the project.

Resolve a controversial defect.

Manage deliverables.

Ensure successful release of a deliverable to the sponsor or sponsor representative. Obtain sponsor's acceptance promptly.
